WHAT IS CANVAS STRETCHING?
Canvas stretching is a professional process in which we stretch a canvas over a wooden frame, or stretcher bar. The canvas could be printed or painted, and the purpose is to make it smooth and ready for display. It ensures that the artwork is in ideal shape to be displayed.
There are several types of canvas stretching, including:
-
Gallery wrap: We stretch the canvas over the stretcher bar and wrap the edges around its frame.
-
Deep gallery wrap: These stretcher bars come with deeper edges, ranging from 2" to 4".
-
Custom stretcher bars: These are for canvases that have non-standard dimensions.
-
Re-stretching: Lastly, this is for artwork that has become warped and loose over time.
WHY IS CANVAS STRETCHING IMPORTANT?
Loose canvases tend to sag and warp over time. This makes them lose their shape and deteriorate. Canvas stretching has many benefits, such as:
-
Perfection tension: When the canvas is stretched, there are no wrinkles, and your artwork will retain its smooth and taut shape.
-
Gallery ready: After we're done stretching your canvas, you will have polished artwork that you can display immediately.
-
Long-lasting: Canvas stretching keeps canvases protected for years to come.
